Dunsford Wood

Dunsford Wood is on the northern edge of Dartmoor. It is a delightful place to visit - especially in the early springtime when there are huge numbers of daffodils on show. Dunsford Wood is is owned by the National Trust and is a nature reserve but fortunately it is open to the public. There are two paths through the wood - one a bridlepath and the other follows the river Teign. Dunsford wood is largely oak - hazel woodland with bracken and lots of open spaces. There's a lot of nature on show here - butterflies, birds, deer, otters - it just depends on the season that you walk. This walk took place in June.
Park at Boyland Road (SX 784893) and take the path to Steps Bridge. That's it really. Alternatively, you could park at Steps Bridge and go to Boyland Road.
Beautifully easy walking on level ground. Suitable for any time or weather. Takes about 2 hours at a gentle pace.
