East Dart Valley

The East Dart is a very pretty river and no more so than around the waterfall at SX 628811. You can take the leat track from Braddon Lake which takes you up the valley, past where the river makes a hairpin turn and then along the impressive ravine to the waterfall.
Park by the Postbridge National Park bookshop (SX 646788) and take the Drift Lane path which starts at the western end of the car park. Proceed past Roundy Park, head in a NW direction, cross Braddon lake (a stream), walk up towards Broad Down and take the old Powder Mills leat track that goes up the East Dart Valley. Once you get to where the river loops at Lade Hill then you can walk alongside the Dart valley (some scrambling is needed) until you get to the waterfall. Then up to Sandy Hole and back to Postbridge via Broad Down
This walk takes about 2 - 3 hours. It is straightforward, but bad weather or heavy mist could give you problems. As the photos show, mist can appear quickly and in patches. Sandy Hole lies near an Army range so look out for any red flags flying.
