Hunter's Tor

Hunter's Tor lies on the northern side of Lustleigh Cleave. The tor is on a good vantage point but it's not the most obvious of Dartmoor's tors. But there are splendid views from the tor. There are the remains of an Iron Age fort nearby. This would have been a well defended position - archaeological evidence suggests that this fort was amended over the years.
Park near to Barnecourt at SX 759835. There's not much room to park. Walk Sw along the road and tak the first turn left that leads to Peck Farm. Walk along the track past the farmhouse and you'll ascend up to the ridge. Just take the paths that are available and return to where you came from.
The ascent can be muddy so take appropriate boots. Otherwise the walk is straightforward.

Part of the walls of the Hunters Tor Iron Age fort. These walls are not very obvious but nonetheless this seems to have been a relatively significant fort. Certainly the aspect is appropriate.

The Nutcracker - SX 772815. Or is it really the Nutcracker? Regardless, in 1950 the Nutcracker would no longer would crack nuts. The military were called in to try and fix the problem. They couldn't. So no nuts can be cracked here anymore.
