Great Mis TorGreat Mis Tor is a big high tor which is visible from many points on the moor. It is 538m high and is at SX 563770. It towers above the river Walkham. The tor covers a large area and consists of widely separated stacks, with lots of clitter on the valley sides around. The views on a clear day are superb - particularly those over the northern moor. However, owing to its position, the tor is often cloud covered. There are many ways to approach it but probably the easiest is the path from the main Princetown - Tavistock road. There is a car park at SX 561748. Head northwards, cross the main road and follow the path that leads up to the tor, passing Little Mis Tor on the way. Allow 1.5 hours for the walk. It is an easy walk and is ideal for a summer evening. The tor lies in the army firing range, so it shouldn't be approached if a red flag is flying from the tor.
